This chapter provides an overview of the steps in career development that students can take while they are at university. How does a student go about securing a job? As with many things, the answer lies in doing homework first—in this case, job- and career-hunting homework; then, actually doing something by following this up with some action which is going to result in some vital work-related experience. The idea is that this experience will give the student the edge over all those other job-seeking graduates. They can include this experience in their CV (curriculum vitae), which they will continue to develop. The chapter then presents a guide for job- and career-hunting homework.
