Activate your access code
By activating your code you indicate tht you accept the terms of our Legal Notice.
You can follow the process below to either:
a) Activate a trial access code (for university staff)
Please note that if your institution purchases a subscription to a Trove product, institutional users can have seamless access via IP range. There will be no need for each individual user at your institution to go through the process set out here.
OR
b) Activate a purchased access code
If this access code or token has been provided to you by your institution, then your access to Business Trove is governed by your institution's licence with OUP (as well as the Privacy Policy and Legal Notice). Please note that you will only need to go through the token activation process once, but you will need to remember your password for future access.
Get started
1. The first stage in the redemption process is creating an account in your name. Visit https://academic.oup.com/my-account/activate-subscription. You will be taken to the sign-in/register page shown below. If you haven't set up an account before, click the 'Register' link at the bottom of the left-hand panel:
a) Complete the registration form (email, name, country, and create a password):
b) Click register. If your registration is successful, you will see a log-in screen where you should enter your credentials. Now move straight to step 3 below.
2. If the registration page tells you it recognizes your details, it's likely that you have set up an OUP account in your name before and you will be prompted to enter your password. If you have forgotten your password, click 'Forgot password?' to reset it, or visit https://academic.oup.com/my-account/forgot-password and reset it there. Go back to https://academic.oup.com/my-account/activate-subscription. You should then be able to log-in by clicking the 'Sign in' link at the bottom of the left-hand panel, and entering your credentials in the log-in screen that follows:
3. Now that you have set up and logged into your account, you can now redeem your access token. You should be taken to the page below. Enter your code, select agreement to the terms and conditions, and click activate:
4. Important: Now close your browser.
5. Reopen your browser and visit https://www.oxfordbusinesstrove.com/
6. Sign in via the log-in on the left-hand side of the webpage with the account credentials you just created:
7. Click the 'Show all books in my subscription' link to view the collection of books in Business Trove.
Access will last for 12 months from the date of redemption. The code your code entitles you to will remain the same for that period.
Navigate to the Business Trove homepage, jump into the content by using the subject menu. To see the titles you have access to select the “available” option in the availability section of the left hand menu.
Troubleshooting
My access code doesn’t work. What do I do?
If you’ve entered your code correctly, and it doesn’t work, please email accesstokens@oup.com. It would help us if you include the name of your institution, how you were given your code, and the access number in your email.
I’ve set up my access but my login doesn’t work.
Please email us at trovehelp@oup.com, including as much information as possible about your situation.
I've had my access code for a while but haven't redeemed it yet, is there a time limit?
Yes, you must activate your code before 30 June each year, after that it will expire.
I'm getting an error message telling me "The simultaneous user limit associated with your subscription has been exceeded" what do I do?
All users have a single concurrency (i.e there can't be more than one person using the same login to access Business Trove) so if you've failed to log out correctly, or if your browser closes unexpectedly, or if you try to open a further session within a different browser, the system thinks you are still logged in and you'll be denied access.
This can generally be avoided by:
- Always logging out at the end of the session
- Always log out when you've used a shared computer
- Only using one browser to access the site
- Waiting approximately 25-30 minutes for the session to ‘expire’
- Clearing saved cookies and cache from your browser
